My name is Steven “Diz” Disbrow and I’m running for the Georgia House of Representatives District 1. I’m a father, computer programmer, actor, producer, comedian and entrepreneur who’s lived in the NW GA area (Chattanooga) my entire life and moved to Rossville in 2019. (I’m also one of the co-founders of Improv Chattanooga, but I’m told that “comedians” can’t really run for office effectively, so, forget I mentioned that. Unless you saw one of my shows and I made you laugh. Surely that's worth a vote.)
Since moving here 7 years ago, I’ve fallen in love with the area and now I simply refuse to leave. This really is a fantastic place to live, and the views are pretty spectacular too.
But, of course, things could always be better. Healthcare, food and job security, infrastructure, affordability and economic development are all things that the folks under the Golden Dome seem to have forgotten about. At least when it comes to NW Georgia.
I’m running for the Georgia House Of Representatives in order to represent YOU and make sure your voices are heard and our needs as a community are met.
So, welcome to my campaign website! Please stay a while and take a look around. Here you’ll find information on some of my top-priority issues as well as ideas I have for some new legislation to protect Georgia workers and their families.
Oh, and you can also donate some money to the campaign or volunteer. Sadly, I’m not independently wealthy and I don’t have any millionaires propping up my run for office. (Soros simply won't take my calls.) So, in a word, I need your help!
Thanks again for stopping by! I’ll see you on the Campaign Trail!
Diz
Before we get to the “standard” campaign stuff, I want to talk about one of the main reasons I’m running for this office:
If you are a “progressive,” “liberal,” “woke,” or even just a vanilla “Democrat,” living here in NW Georgia, it can feel like you are truly isolated... that your voice won’t be heard, and that your vote just doesn’t matter.
I’m here to tell you that this is NOT true.
There are literally thousands of people in this district who feel exactly the same way you do about the issues you care about.
But too many of them feel defeated… or intimidated… and stay home on election day.
And that’s the difference.
And when people like you show up...
That’s not wishful thinking. That’s how elections actually work.
So one of the main reasons I’m running, even in a race some people might call “unwinnable,” is to remind you of something simple:
And if everyone who feels this way actually gets out and votes...
So the next time you’re hanging out with your friends, tell them about this campaign. Tell them they’re not alone. And tell them to GET OUT AND VOTE.
And yes, if I’m elected I will represent everyone in District 1: Republicans, Independents, Democrats, and anyone else who calls this community home.
The job isn’t to represent one side.
The job is to represent you.
These are the issues I'll be focused on when I take office. (This list could change of course.)
Hospitals are closing across the region, and more and more Georgians can't afford health insurance. There's absolutely no reason, other than spite, that we shouldn't accept the Federal Funds to expand Medicaid in the State. This will be one of my top priorities when I take office, along with reforming the Georgia Pathways program to actually work for Georgia families.
"Economic Development" is more than just industry and retail. It also means things that enrich our lives like public spaces, the arts and properly funded schools. NW Georgia has lagged behind in ALL these areas for too long. We need economic policies that support families first, while still helping local businesses grow in a responsible manner.
Gas prices are up. Groceries are up. Child Care is up. EVERYTHING is up, except for wages. While a lot of this stems from poor-decisions at the Federal level, there are things we can do in State Government to ease the pain. I'll work on finding new ways to "insulate" Georgia's economy from these Federal problems and bring prices down for all Georgians.
I think we all realize that the current District setup (at both the State and Federal levels) is absolutely insane, with the party in power constantly looking to stifle the will of the folks on the other side. One of my top goals will be to redistrict myself out of a job in 2030. Districts should be created in a non-partisan manner (like Iowa or Michigan) rather than having the state carved up like a Thanksgiving Turkey by a bunch of power-hungry millionaires that have no real interest in representing the people.
Honestly I’d rather have fair Districting and better representation for all Georgians than the job itself.
The FAIR Act (Fair AI & Innovation Reform Act) ensures workers are treated fairly as AI changes the workplace. Companies must evaluate AI systems before replacing employees, and workers who are displaced receive severance,
continued healthcare, and opportunities for retraining or reassignment. If other positions are available, they must be offered first. And if the AI system fails, workers get the first chance to return to their jobs.

Want to help, but don’t actually have any money to spare? Please consider volunteering to help the campaign. We need folks to make calls, knock on doors, put out signs, and yes, maybe even help apply my spray tan and toupee. (I’m trying to appeal to the Rs too, ya know!)
